Career best ARCA finish for Levine moves him to fourth in driver points
Scott Rookie Challenge contender David Levine raced to his best career finish in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards on Saturday, capturing 6th place as the checkered flag fell in the Troop Aid 200 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
After qualifying his Gary Yeomans / TraqGear / AttorneyAtLaw number 59 Ford in ninth, David was moved up two spots at the drop of the green flag, with two cars in front of him going to the back for the start. He then raced inside of the top ten for the entire 200 lap event, which saw only three cautions for 34 laps.
Excited after qualifying well, David exclaimed, “This car is a rocket! Qualified 9th, but we’ll be starting from 7th as two cars are headed to the back. We just ran half a second quicker than in practice, and the car is great on the long run. 200 laps is a long race. This is also my first night race in four years. Should be fun!”
The strong performance in Nashville marked the second ARCA racing top ten finish, and third top ten qualifying spot, for the 21-year old Highland Park, IL driver. The race was the ARCA Series first time at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville since 1992.
Unofficially, David’s finish will move him up to fourth in the driver points standings. He should also retain his lead in the ARCA Scott Rookie Challenge standings.
Both David, and his crew chief Sam Schram, are anxious to get on track when the series returns to action for the Federated Auto Parts 200 at Salem Speedway on April 26th.
After the race, Sam commented, “Great 6th place finish tonight at Fairgrounds Speedway! David ran an awesome race in the no. 59 Gary Yeomans Ford. Great job by all the guys at Lira Motorsports this weekend. Now on to Salem!”
David concluded, “MEGA DAY! P6 at Nashville! Sam kept her under me all night long. By far the best group of guys I’ve ever been with!! Huge thanks to Carlos and Amanda Lira. Can’t wait to ride this momentum to Salem!”
