For three past three years, David Levine has been primarily a sports car racer, collecting 14 top ten finishes on road courses in IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series competition. Since his decision to come to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards full time in 2015, he’s had the Thunderbolt Raceway road course at New Jersey Mototrsports Park circled on his calendar. Having more road course experience that many of the series regulars, David see’s this as a great opportunity to close the gap on the series points lead.
Six races into the season, David is leading the series Scott Rookie Challenge standings. In the overall driver points standings, he is in 5th, just 65 points behind the series points leader, and only 15 points outside of the top three. His 9th place finish last weekend at Toledo Speedway was his third top ten finish this year.
Key to victory… In order to use his road course experience to his advantage, David will need to first feel out the differences in road course handling between his ARCA Ford Fusion and the sports cars he has raced in the past. The key to victory for David at New Jersey Motorsports Park will be to quickly make any necessary adjustments to his road course driving style to fit his ARCA Ford’s characteristics.
David Levine on New Jersey Motorsports Park: “NJMP is the race that I have had circled on the schedule for the entire season. The last race I ran there we had a top 5 car, but got tangled up in someone else’s mistake. The Lira Motorsports crew has given me great cars all season, so I can’t wait to get behind the hot rod they’re going to give me this weekend! With my background in this type of racing I will be pushing for at least a top 5.”
