Frustrating Weekend For Levine At Winchester

David Levine and the No. 59 Momo/TraqGear/Ford Performance team were greeted by a wet Winchester Speedway when they arrived at the Indiana track on Saturday. Light rain continued throughout the day, resulting in the cancellation of the two scheduled ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards practice sessions and qualifying. The rain stopped long enough late in the afternoon for the track to be dried, and the teams were given a one hour practice session, beginning just before 6:00pm. This gave David a chance to familiarize himself with Winchester’s half-mile, high-banked layout.

David completed 55 laps in the session, ending with the 17th quickest lap time. After the session, David and his crew chief, Sam Schram, decided on a few changes to improve the cars speed for Sunday’s Herr’s Chase The Taste 200.

Due to the cancellation of qualifying and the practice session occurring later in the day than originally scheduled, the starting field for the race was set by car owners points. This placed David st 15th on the starting grid.

By lap 50 of the race, David had gained seven spots to 8th place when he cut a tire down and hit the wall in turn one. The crew made initial repairs to the car under the resulting caution. David reported handling issues when racing resumed, which was diagnosed as suspension damage during a later caution period.

David raced with the damaged suspension until lap 136 when he came to pit road for repairs. He rejoined the field with 20 laps to go and finished the race. He was credited with a 16th place finish.

David and his Lira Motorsports team will look to regroup when the series returns to action on July 17th at Iowa Speedway for the ARCA Iowa 150.
