Dippel Continues To Impress In His Second ARCA Race
Fifteen-year old racer Tyler Dippel made his second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start on Labor Day, taking on the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds one-mile clay oval in the Southern Illinois 100.
Similar to his first start two weeks ago, the young dirt track specialist from Wallkill, NY proved he can wheel an ARCA Series car through the field, picking up 18 spots from his starting position to take over second place on a restart from caution on lap 33.
With experience racing on dirt tracks in all types of conditions, Tyler remained inside of the top ten through the midway point of the race, despite a track surface in turns one and two that had begun deteriorating early in the race.
Late in the race, Tyler experienced handling issues, which when compounded with a green flag pit stop with five laps to go, took away the chance for a top ten finish. Tyler was in 16th place when the checkered flag fell.
After the race, Tyler commented “Thank you to Mohawk Northeast, D&A Concrete Contractors, TyCar Trenchless Technologies, Momo, Ford Performance, TraqGear, and especially to Lira Motorsports, Teddy Brown and my #58 crew. I had a better feel for the car regarding weight transfer and handling today, but this isn’t the finish this team deserves. I’m looking forward to Salem Speedway.”
Tyler will return to Lira Motorsports for his first ARCA Series race on asphalt in the Federated Car Care Fall Classic 200 on September 19th at Salem Speedway.
