LIRA MOTORSPORTS TO TEST 2016 SHORT-TRACK PROGRAM AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (December 15, 2015)—The ARCA Racing Series (ARCA), presented by Menards season came to a close in mid-October at the Kansas Speedway. Lira Motorsports has quickly moved the focus onto the 2016 ARCA Racing Series season by scheduling private testing events.
On November 3, the team headed to the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., for a day-long test. The four-car contingent spent most of the day allowing drivers to adapt to the new Ford Fusion composite body. This new composite body style will be allowed for the 2016 ARCA Racing Series competition excluding events at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and the Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
Lira Motorsports will head to New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Wednesday, December 16, for another test during the “off-season” at the New Smyrna Speedway. As the team continues to grow, Carlos Lira, Lira Motorsports team owner, has expressed that each day is a learning experience and these test sessions only add to the continued learning process.
Drivers set to share time behind the wheel of the Lira Motorsports Ford Fusions include: Todd Bectman, JA Junior, Brandon Lynn, Travis Swaim, Clayton Weatherman, and Josh Williams.
Lira Motorsports driver Kyle Weatherman, 2015 ARCA Racing Series Scott Rookie of the Year and Calypso Short Track Champion, along with David Levine, a ARCA Racing Series/NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) driver, and Michael Lira, a current ARCA Racing Series and IMSA driver, will be providing assistance and driver coaching to these upcoming drivers.
