“First off, I’d like to thank Carlos Lira for giving us the opportunity to come down and test. I am very excited to see what I can do and I’m hoping we have a successful test.  I’d also like to thank Jack Roush for reaching out to Carlos and recommending me.,” said Baird.

Baird, a 22 year-old from Jackson, Michigan comes to Lira Motorsports with a resume full of outstanding achievements. He began his career behind the wheel of Go-Karts at the age of 12. In 2005 success came quickly for the young man as he won in only his second start. After much success in Go-Karts, Morgen would make the jump in 2008 to Mini-Cup Racing by running for a points championship at the Jackson Speedway. He went on to win the the track’s Rookie of the Year award and finish second in the overall points standing. A rookie season full of success led the young man to a show stopping career in racing. Before moving up in 2014, Morgen Baird had 39 poles, held 6 track records, 40 heat wins, 35 feature wins, 4 Great Lakes Super Mini-Cup Series (GLS) championships, and 1 track championship at the Springport (Mich) Speedway. In 2014 he advanced into the Midwest Classic Racers (MCR) Dwarf Cars series, and respectively earned top five finishes in his first five starts to the season, captured 3 heat wins and won the final race at the M-40 Speedway, in Jones, Michigan, making Baird the first ever rookie to capture a feature checkered in series history. Morgen would go on finishing out his rookie season, third in the overall points standings and earning rookie of the year award. In 2015, Morgen Baird piloted his own equipment with the help of his father building race cars and running under the family banner.

“Everyone at Lira Motorsports has been very helpful throughout this process and I’m hoping something great can come from this opportunity. I wouldn’t have this opportunity without my parents and grandparents, and I’m hoping to make them proud.”

Morgen looks to take his enthusiasm and passion for racing and gain the perspective knowledge behind the wheel of the Pro-Late Model before tackling the high-banked corners and lighting fast straightaways of the “World Center of Racing” at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
