(MOORESVILLE, N.C.) January 18, 2016— After traveling south to the Sunshine state,
ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards officials and Daytona (Fla.) Int’l Speedway track officials, had postponed all on track activity Friday, due to heavy rains. As a result of Fridays cancellation, Saturday started off with a minor delay, caused by a dense fog lingering in the area from early morning showers.IMG_5962

After quickly drying the track, ARCA officials allowed drivers to begin strapping in behind the wheel shortly after 10am ET. The four car fleet for Lira Motorsports was the first in line to hit the track Saturday morning. The first set of drivers included- Gray Gaulding, Brandon Lynn, Tyler Speer, and Kyle Weatherman. Immediately, the team wasted no time on taking advantage of the quiet track and began pack drafting for the day.

“I thought the drafting Saturday was a blast,” Gray Gaulding said. “I couldn’t wait to get out there each run and duke it out with them guys in the draft. We learned a lot and I can’t wait to come back! I thought everyone at Lira Motorsports did a great job all day long and they gave me a fast car.”

Throughout the day the team swapped drivers and made adjustments to the four car Lira Motorsports Ford Fusion fleet. Drivers – Dylan Cappello, Stephen Kemp, Justin Lloyd, Jeff Myers Jr, Devin O’Connell, and Clayton Weatherman all took their turn behind the wheel.

“It was an awesome experience that I will never forget,” Dylan Cappello said. “I had so much fun and learned a lot in a short amount of time!”

The 53rd season opener for the ARCA Racing Series, Lucas Oil 200, will air live on Fox Sports 1 on Saturday, February 13 and serve as the predecessor to the NASCAR Sprint Unlimited following.

Driver announcements will be released in the weeks coming.
