Weatherman Looks Ahead to Talladega After Top-5 Performance at Salem
Kyle Weatherman, driver of the No. 58 St. Charles Glass Ford Fusion, is happy with the team’s performance in the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, but he’s digging for more throughout the season.
After finishing in the fourth position during Sunday’s race, Weatherman walks away satisfied with the direction the team is going heading into Talladega and the rest of the season. Despite fighting a tough-handling racecar throughout the weekend and qualifying in the seventh position, he was able to rally to the front for a top-5.
“It was a battle all weekend, but we didn’t stop working until we got the results we wanted. We had a really fast car and I’m happy with where we ended up. We needed it after not completing the race in Nashville due to a ball joint breaking in the right front. It was a really good points day for us too,” Weatherman said.
Weatherman claims that the speed the team has had so far this season has been exceptional. He was able to clinch the third position at Daytona in the ARCA Racing Series season opener, and he also had one of the fastest cars at Nashville by qualifying in the third position.
Now moving on to Talladega, he’s optimistic of his chances for the win.
“I definitely think we have proved ourselves on speed so far this season,” Weatherman claimed. “We’ve been able to have two top-5 finishes out of the three races so far and a great qualifying run at Nashville. I hate that we had a part failure in Nashville, but that’s racing. Things like that happen and we can’t let those kinds of things get us down. That’s why we came out here to full-service Salem and ran as well as we did. Now we are looking forward to restrictor plate racing in Talladega. If the race goes anything like Daytona for us, we will definitely have a shot at the win.”
Weatherman is thankful for his team for giving him some fast cars so far this season. He can’t thank the Lira’s and his sponsors St. Charles Glass, MOMO Motorsport, Traqgear, NexGen Fuel, and Safecraft enough for joining him this season.
