Ryan Reed to Drive Lira Motorsports ARCA Entry at Pocono
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 24, 2016) – NASCAR XFINITY Series regular Ryan Reed will pilot the No. 38 Lira Motorsports Ford Fusion in the upcoming ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at Pocono Raceway on June 3rd.
Reed, who captured two wins for the team in the ARCA Racing Series in 2015, has made two previous starts in the series at Pocono Raceway. With the NASCAR XFINITY Series visiting Pocono Raceway for the first time, Reed hopes the extra time on track will translate to success in Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race.
“I’m excited to team with Lira Motorsports again this season in the ARCA Racing Series after our success last season,” said Reed. “I think the extra seat time will definitely help me prepare for Saturday’s race, but I’m thrilled for the opportunity to compete for a third win for Carlos Lira and the entire Lira Motorsports organization.”
In June 2015, Reed brought home the first win for the Lira Motorsports organization at Chicagoland Speedway in dominating fashion, leading 70 out of 100 laps. The event marked Reed’s first career ARCA Racing Series victory as well, after recording six top-10 finishes in 14 starts during the 2012 season. Reed went on to win later in the season at Kentucky Speedway, recording the organization’s second win. He made a third start at Kansas Speedway where he finished fourth.
Reed returns to the series at Pocono behind the wheel of Lira’s No. 38 Ford Fusion, with primary sponsorship from Lilly Diabetes. He will participate in the test session on Tuesday, May 31 to get the car dialed in before Friday afternoon’s 200-mile event. In his two previous starts at the track in 2012, Reed took home ninth- and sixth-place finishes.
Reed, who competes full time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for Roush Fenway Racing, teams with Lira Motorsports, which is competing in its second year of ARCA Racing competition and has recorded two wins and 29 top-10 finishes during the organization’s brief history.
“We are excited to have Ryan Reed behind the wheel of the No. 38 entry at Pocono,” said Lira Motorsports owner, Carlos Lira. “He has brought us a lot of success in his three starts with our team, and we are looking forward to adding to that record. Having an experienced driver like him on our roster is invaluable to our growth as a team.”
The ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200 from Pocono Raceway will air live on Fox Sports 1 on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 5:45 p.m. ET.
